Ni-based catalysts supported on y-Al2O3 Mg-promoted (0.2, 0.4 and 0.6 mol) were obtained by  one-pot synthesis by microwave assisted combustion, using low content ureia and without additives. The catalysts were calcined at 550 ºC / 3 h and characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), programmed temperature reduction (TPR), N2 fissisortion (BET-BJH), X-ray fluorescence (FRX), electron microscopy scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and thermogravimetry (TG) with coupled Fourier transform infrared spectrophotometry (FTIR). The catalytic tests were carried out at a temperature of 700 ºC (activation and reaction) using CH4 / CO2 (1:1) for 20 h. The catalytic results show that the addition of magnesium considerably increases the conversions of CH4 and CO2 due to acidic modification of the surface.
