Use of Civil Construction and Demolition Waste to Produce Concrete Blocks

Waste generated by construction and demolition (RCD) is a major cause of environmental problems, and is closely linked to the increase in the volume of solid waste produced in urban centers. In this research, the proposal was to use these residues in the production of concrete for use in structural block. In manufacturing, the sand was replaced by RCD in different percentages in order to preserve the main properties required. The use of RCDs for concrete production could reduce, recycle and reuse these wastes that would be discarded in nature. The objective of this work was to study the mechanical properties of structural concrete with total and partial replacement (25%, 50%, 75% and 100%) in sand mass. The results of the compression test indicate good quality for concretes with mass substitution of up to 75% per RCD.
