Pseudoboehmite addition in concrete

This work aims to evaluate the concrete with addition of pseudoboehmite. The specific objectives of this work are to evaluate the influence of the addition of pseudoboehmite with different dosage combinations in the concrete, in relation to the strength and the workability. Pseudoboehmite have nanoparticles with high specific surface area that influence in the workability of the concrete. Because of the above, it is important to study the influence of the variation of the dosage of these pseudoboehmite nanoparticles on concrete properties, such as fluidity, strength and porosity. Workability or Slump test were carried out in each concrete dosage. Tensile strength and porosity were also evaluated in the ultrasonic test at different curing ages of the concrete. The pseudoboehmite was obtained by the sol-gel process from aluminum nitrate and ammonium hydroxide. It was characterized by X-ray diffraction, thermal analysis (differential thermal analysis and thermogravimetric analysis) and infrared spectroscopy. The results of pseudoboehmite charactbyerizations shows by x-ray diffraction that the material has only pseudoboehmite. The Slump test shows that the addition of pseudoboehmite increase the workability of the concrete.
