Organizers information:
Wilson Acchar Wilson Acchar is a Metallurgical Engineering from the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro (PUC-RJ), Brazil, has a PhD degree from the Technical University of Harburg-Hamburg, Germany (TUHH-1993) and is the coordinator of the Post-graduation Program in Materials Science and Engineering of the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte (UFRN-RN). His research interests also include ceramic materials (clays, aluminum and zirconium oxides), composite materials, tape casting, ceramic biomaterials and recycling and reuse of industrial wastes. He has co-authored 80 papers published in SCI scientific journals and published two books on waste use in the Springer Briefs in Applied Sciences and Technology and three books on fundamentals of ceramic materials (Portuguese). Prof. Acchar is also a member of the Committee of the Materials Engineering area of National Council for Scientific and Technological Development (CNPq-Brazil).
Ana Maria Segadães Ana M. Segadães is a Chemical Engineer from the University of Coimbra, Portugal, has a PhD degree from the University of Sheffield, UK (which was awarded the Berthold Eichler Memorial Prize), and earned the highest degree (Agregação) in the Portuguese Universities academic career at the University of Aveiro, Portugal. Her expertise in Phase Equilibrium Diagrams granted her an invitation for a first post-doctoral stay at the Federal University of São Carlos-SP, Brazil, which broadened into collaborations with various other Brazilian institutions. She also carried out post-doctoral research work at the University of California at Santa Barbara, USA, on fracture energy in composite materials and phase equilibrium in high Tc superconductors, with ramifications into rheology and colloidal processing of ceramics. Her research interests also include oxide powder synthesis by solution combustion, particle packing, design of experiments (response surfaces), and recycling and reuse of industrial wastes. She has co-authored 95 papers published in SCI scientific journals, which received 1205 citations and granted her a H-index of 19.
